As a battery engineer/ BMS designer I liked the episode. Would be interested in the supply for the Kweld, I use a car battery for mine and not real happy with that setup.

I purchased and tried (3) used HP power supplies. Not one of them worked. I finally found (and purchased) a NEW unused version of the same supply from "compu-smart" on ebay and it worked. I combined the server supply with the PSU kit from kWeld.

So the server supply is enough with that regulator? It was my understanding the current was a lot higher, and you needed to charge some energy storage in a large cap bank or have a high C lipo as a source. The Server supplies can hold the voltage up during a weld? If its only 70 a car battery will work just fine.

Hi Dave. You are correct. I use the HP server supply as the PSU, the kSupply with that server, the kCap Ultracapacitor module, and finally the kWeld. I was not able to easily charge the KCap with any of the regular Power supplies that I had on hand. The ultra capacitor is basically a dead short when starting up cold.

Learned a ton on a topic I didn't realize I needed to know more about. Well done.

Please add me to the list when the Arduino test kit is available to order and when the battery tester is available to order thanks Stephen

Delighted that you enjoyed the project. I will let post here as soon as I revise the board design to fix a bug that requires a wire bodge on the back.. Still working on tweaks before I iterate on the next PCB. Please stay tuned. V/R Rick (KC6UFT)

The two things I heard that I came to the notes to look for:

Battery test fixure: BF-2A
I2C Current/Power meter: INA260

I purchased and used the INA260 from Adafruit.

Marcel pointed me to the BF-2A and I purchased it from Alibaba.
