It’s not all that shadowy, they have a web page. :-)

LOVE the idea of the "contest audio" project - I even talked to Bob Heil about something like that a few years ago. Go for it!!

I don't like it when you have that guy on. His general demeanor is extremely condescending.

How so? I’m genuinely interested in more details. I don’t intend to be, so if I come across as demeaning, I’d like to know how to be better.

I really enjoy it when you have Smitty join the podcast. In contrast to the above comment, I do not find his demeanor condescending in the slightest. Please continue having his expertise available. Thanks. 73

Love Smitty. Would something like this work for the dual freq generator for receiver tests? https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/AD9850.pdf

The AD chip is a good one. IIRC, it even has sine wave outputs. IR sine-ish. It’s on the list of chips to look at for this project. I’m still working on the Tx and Digital side so haven’t begun work on the Rx testing parts yet, other than to make sure I can add them to what I’m making now.

So, this podcast! It's so cool :)
I now understand, at least a little bit more, why it's diffiult to meausre QRPp power. (By the way, I blundered over here to the podcast today through the github QRP service monittor project.)
I used logarithmic amplifiers in my EE thesis, and it's really fun to see them come up again here. Thanks!

It took a few weeks, but I finally found the logarithmic amplifier of my past. The reference was buried in a briefcase stored in a storage unit in Las Cruces, NM for the better part of a decade. (really)
I used the AD 640 for a beam position monitor processing circuit at the Los Alamos Proton Storage Ring. The idea was to compare the relative RF power, (the proton beam was circulating the pipe at 200 MHz... I think) picked up by electrodes on either side of the accelerator chamber (a 8" or so diameter circular pipe). The AD 640 was used because the current outputs from the amplifiers (one for eaither electrode) could be easily summed into a resistor. The resultting voltage gave an inidcation of how far the proton beam was off center. Cool stuff! Thanks again for this great podcast!
