Hey guys it was a great podcast. The Baynet presentation link seems to be incorrect. The correct one is http://www.bay-net.org/resources.html

I loved to hear info on SOTA.

Goerge/Jeremy

Another great podcast to listen to and enjoy. In fact I had to listen to it twice as antennas, qrp and field ops are my way to better enjoy the workbench. The Bay area has a very active QRP community and will 4 SOTA activations a cast of chasers waiting to make contacts with summiteers.

Doug has a great turn out for the CALQRP meetings at Dennys in San Jose where I first saw some of his antenna prototypes and John's W6IPA builds of various projects. There is always some stations to operate in the outside area of the restaurant. I have been reading and making his designs for years and finally got to meet him.

Rex has also been a great SOTA activator and I did work him a few times as he chased me on Mount Diablo and Mt Unhumun. Get out and do some SOTA.

Its easy to get some 2m simplex contacts and CW is more effective with low power even with poor band conditions but I was able to make a 2w SSB QSO with RM0L in Russia using a MFJ 20m short whip. That was a a thrill. Just do not forget the counterpoise.

John W6IPA has a 3D pattern for his 20m whip antenna that can be built on the workbench on a saturday afternoon. I posted some stuff on www.ve3ips.wordpress.com on my build out.

You can even use a pill bottle to make the coil but the 3D printed coil form is really nice. Your local library may be able to print for you or try a local ham club that may have members that can help.

One of the presenters talked about the 10 essentials but I cannot find a link to what those are? Any chance you can direct me to the right place,

Anybody happen to have a link for the "Chinese 720mm pole" that was talked about in the QRP segment?

Try this

They are cheap

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-Telescopic-Fishing-Rod-Carbon-Fiber-Stream-Hand-Pole-3-8M-4-4M-5M-6M-6-8M/283373542316?hash=item41fa611bac:m:mXm5y859RXhNhlhGvcybIgg

A better build may be found with Crappy poles made by South Bend at your local big box stores. In Canada I have Shakespeare Big Sticks but Bass Pro may have better.
