As a Flex 8400 owner, I was keenly interested in this podcast. It's one of the few I've replayed, and now I finally grasp the concept of Polar Modulation. Nicely done.

Wonderful discussion - thank you! I have been using the QMX for a couple of months now with remarkable results at 4 - 5 watts. The CESSB feature, that Flex also uses, seems to make a huge difference for QRP DX voice. Nothing like an extra 3 or 4 dB. The Aurora will be on par with a kilowatt that lacks CESSB.

This was excellent and informative! I’m in the consumer electronics business as an RF engineer and am very appreciative of the easy to grasp description of polar modulation here. It turns out the scheme is used in many mobile phones too…
